Invisalign: The Virtually Invisible Treatment Option

Waterford, Norwich, & Groton, CT

Have you ever wished you could straighten your teeth without anyone knowing? Invisalign straightens your teeth without traditional brackets and wires by using a series of clear, customized appliances called aligners. They are almost invisible, which means hardly anyone will know that you’re straightening your teeth! Invisalign aligners are also removable, so you can eat and drink what you want; plus, it keeps brushing and flossing easy. Results start to show in as little as a few weeks, so you can smile with confidence throughout your treatment!

How Does Invisalign Work?

First, we will take a digital scan of your teeth to design a customized series of aligners. Each aligner is worn full-time, or for a minimum of 22 hours each day. The exception to this is eating and brushing, when your aligners should be removed and stored properly in the case we give you. Each set of aligners should be worn for around one to two weeks, but your orthodontics will give you a specific recommendation on the number of days to wear the sets. For the duration of your treatment, we recommend saving one previous set of
aligners when moving on to a new pair just in case you accidentally lose one. Our office will see you every 6-10 weeks to monitor the progress of your treatment. As you replace each aligner with the next in the series, your teeth will move little by little until they have straightened to the final position prescribed.

We recommend brushing your aligners – inside and outside – at least twice a day with mild dish soap and lukewarm water. However, you should brush your teeth after each time you eat or drink to prevent any buildup of plaque and keep your teeth healthy and white throughout treatment.
