Digital Impressions

This innovative new technology digitally captures the surface and contours of the teeth, exactly replicating your oral anatomy and creating a 360-degree impression in just minutes.

No Goop. No Gagging.

The scanner uses visible light, so there’s no exposure to radiation. Digital impressions eliminate the mess and unpleasantness associated with traditional impressions, which has resulted in less anxiety and more comfort for our patients.

Accelerated Treatment

We are proud to offer our patients a hands-free device designed to safely accelerate orthodontic treatment – Propel VPro5! Based on the same technology used to help broken bones heal and regenerate, this device emits gentle, pulse vibrations to safely speed up tooth movement up to 50% faster!

To use, simply bite into the mouthpiece and turn on the activator for just 20 minutes each day during the course of your treatment. The lightweight device is held in place by gentle bite pressure, making it possible to go about your normal day while reducing treatment time.

Propel is cleared by the United States Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and is available as an add-on to orthodontic treatment as prescribed by a doctor at Orthodontic Associates of Southeastern Connecticut.

SureSmile

The SureSmile system combines 3D imaging, virtual simulations, and robotically bent archwires to allow our doctors to customize your treatment. Orthodontic Associates of Southeastern Connecticut are one of the only SureSmile-certified practices in Eastern Connecticut!

SureSmile treatment begins with taking a digital scan of your mouth to create a 3D model of your bite. Using this model along with virtual simulation tools, our doctors determine the final position of your teeth and the most effective treatment plan for you. SureSmile robots (yes, robots!), which are able to work with the high temperatures required for customizing wires and can bend more precisely than a human can, use our doctor’s treatment plan to make an archwire specifically for you.

The wire is inserted into your brackets, delivering gentle forces to move your teeth into the desired position. Because of the precision involved with this revolutionary technology, your treatment time can be reduced by up to 30%!

Digital X-Rays

Digital X-rays eliminate the need for standard X-ray film by using electronic sensors that externally capture the patient’s mouth. These images are then sent directly to a computer, allowing our team to have a more detailed view of the mouth, including the patient’s teeth, gums, and tissues, to better identify oral health problems. Digital X-rays allow for more effective treatment planning, a higher level of detail, and reduced radiation exposure.

CBCT

Cone Beam Computer Tomography (CBCT) is a form of 3D imaging that gives us even more detailed information about your mouth than standard X-rays would. Like iTero, the CBCT scanner is non-invasive and quick, providing clear images of your oral structure without any discomfort. During a scan with this device, a cone-shaped beam will be moved around you while it takes images that are put together to create a 3D model of your teeth, bone, nerve pathways, and soft tissues. The more insight we have on the state of your oral health and the layout of your smile, the more informed treatment decisions we’ll be able to make.
